Introductory Lacrosse

These 12-week introductory classes are for beginning and first year players.  We will focus on the fundamentals of the game with primary emphasis on stick skills (throwing, catching, scoping and shooting) and offensive and defensive positioning and skills.  

Full equipment is required (hard stick, gloves, shoulder pads, arm pads, helmet and mouth guard) and is available for purchase at The Next Level Lacrosse Store.

Intermediate Lacrosse

These 12-week classes are a follow-up to our introductory lacrosse class for the player with 1-2 years of experience. We will continue to focus on the fundamentals of the game with emphasis on stick skills (throwing, catching, scooping and shooting) and offensive and defensive skills (shooting, dodging, checking, etc.) and game play.  

Periodically players will be filmed and provided with instructor feedback in our team video room.  About half of each class will be devoted to scrimmaging.

Offense v. Defense

This class is for both offensive and defensive players.  Offensive players will work on a variety of dodges against a defenseman from various typical locations on the field (from X, from the wing, from up top). We will work on the proper technique; stick protection, footwork, shot location and team offense principles.

Defensive players will be coached in individual technique (stance, hand position, body position, checking), defending one-on-one (from X, from the wing, from up top), and team defense (playing off the ball, sliding, transition defense and team defensive schemes).

Face Off Training w/ Andy Corno

High School/Middle SchoolNov. 28, Dec. 5, 12, 19Mondays 7:00-8:00pm
 
Andy Corno will help you significantly improve your face off skill through this comprehensive class. We will focus on positioning and set up, basic moves, counter moves and advanced face off and wing strategy. In this class you will have the opportunity to learn the most effective moves for any situation and will get a great number of live reps against other players. Andy was not only a great player he is also an outstanding teacher of his trade.
 
Each class will start with a review of game film. In preparation for this class, please put together an edited DVD of your face offs in games or scrimmages. Andy will review game film with the class at the start of each session and provide you with specific suggestions to improve your winning percentage. 
 
Coach: Andy Corno
 
Andy Corno graduated from Walt Whitman HS and played college ball at Georgetown where he helped lead the Hoyas to the playoffs every year. He was a 3-time all American, senior captain, and noted nationally for his work at the face off circle. Coach Corno is currently one of the top five NCAA leaders in career face off percentage and total ground balls. 
 
Andy played professional lacrosse for the New Jersey Pride and the Philadelphia Barrage. In only his second year he was chosen as a 2006 Major League Lacrosse All Star and led the league in Ground Balls. In 2007 Andy was instrumental in helping the Barrage win the MLL Championship.

Goalie Training w/ Joey Kemp

High School/Middle SchoolNov 30, Dec 7, 14Wednesdays 6:30-8:15pm
 
This small group mini clinic will teach proper positioning and technique for saving a variety of shots (outside, bounce, inside, etc.). Joey will also cover angle play, outlets, clearing, mental preparation and leadership/communication. 
 
In addition, each class will include classroom coaching sessions with film review and analysis of each goalie in action to enhance the learning process and help identify areas for improvement. The small size of this class allows for a great deal of individual instruction for each goalie. 
 
Coach: Joey Kemp 
 
Joey Kemp graduated from Georgetown Prep where he earned All American honors. At Notre Dame Joey was team captain and a three time all American and was considered one of if not the top goalie in the country. At Notre Dame Joey led the nation with a .652 save percentage as a freshman and ranks first in program history in victories (40), goals-against average (7.20), minutes played for a goaltender (3189:46), games started for a goaltender (56) and saves (633). 
 
Joey played professional lacrosse in the MLL for the Los Angeles Riptide and the Washington Bayhawks.
